PM6C pricing, neodymium stock, and this week’s listening

The PM6C is currently £270 per unit.

For many people, the PM6C is one of the most straightforward ways into the Lowther sound. It is accessible by Lowther standards, but it still carries the speed, presence and honesty that make a full-range Lowther so rewarding to live with.

At the same time, our neodymium magnet stock is running low.

With current world events continuing to affect material costs, we expect the price of neodymium magnets on our next order to increase. In simple terms, when this stock is gone, prices are likely to move upwards.

So if you have been thinking about ordering, this is a good time to act rather than wait.

Whether you are planning a new build, upgrading an existing speaker, or have simply been sitting on the fence, this may be the best moment before the next increase arrives.

Lowther has never been about chasing volume. We build for people who care about music, craftsmanship, and long-term value. That means material costs matter, and when they change, the reality reaches us too.

The next Open Day

We also have another open day coming up in April/May. More details will follow soon, so stay tuned.

Album of the week

Our Man in Paris Dexter Gordon, 1963

This week’s album came with a wonderful note from our friend Ernst Weber in Switzerland:

This week's album is Dexter Gordon's Our Man in Paris, recorded in 1963 with Bud Powell, Pierre Michelot, and Kenny Clarke. Four expatriates in a Paris studio, playing with the unhurried confidence of men who have nothing to prove. Gordon's tenor is enormous here; warm, generous, full of stories. "Scrapple from the Apple" swings with an ease that makes you forget how hard this music is to play, and "Stairway to the Stars" is a ballad so slow and beautiful it barely breathes. This is the record I reach for when I want to remember what jazz is really about: not cleverness, not technique, but four people in a room, listening to each other, making something that feels alive. Put it on. Track two. Turn it up a little.

— Ernst Weber

Next up

Déjà Vu Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, 1970

Next week we move from Paris to Laurel Canyon with Déjà Vu.

A very different record, but one just as rewarding. Harmony, space, texture, and songs that still carry real emotional weight. It is an album well worth sitting down for properly.

If you have been considering a PM6C or one of our neodymium units, now is a very good time to get in touch.
