Preparing your audio experience

A moment in time, preserved in an eternity of music.
In the 1920s, Paul Voigt created a horn loudspeaker that would become the foundation of modern Hi‑Fi.
The Voigt horn captures more than sound. It represents a moment in time when Great Britain was at the forefront of both engineering and creativity. From this single design grew a world of Hi‑Fi that changed the way people experienced music forever.
Our 2024 reproduction honours that original moment. Handcrafted in Britain, the horn is designed for the Field Coil Philharmonic drive unit, pairing Voigt's pioneering form with Lowther's most coveted instrument.
The result is both a tribute and a continuation: a timeless union of past and present. This is not just a loudspeaker - it is a piece of Hi‑Fi history, a moment in time, preserved in an eternity of music.

How We Made the Voigt Horn
Every 4ft Voigt Horn is handmade to order in our Northampton workshop. Each piece is built with care from start to finish by British craftsmen.

We use high-grade Baltic birch plywood for strength and tonal purity. Every panel is cut, shaped and joined by hand for perfect alignment.

You can choose from a range of real wood and specialist veneers. Each pair is book-matched to create a natural flow of grain that suits your space.

The drive units, including the PM7A Philharmonic, are assembled in our Norfolk atelier. Every part is crafted to the same standard as the world's finest instruments.

Each cone is hand-treated, air-dried and cured in natural sunlight. This gives every Lowther its unmistakably natural tone.

From wood to wire, every element is made to last for generations. A Lowther is not a product but an instrument that grows more beautiful with time.

Every cut, every joint, every finish is completed by hand. Our craftsmen bring decades of experience to each speaker, ensuring uncompromising quality.

The 4ft Voigt Horn is more than a loudspeaker; it is an heirloom of British acoustic history. Its presence transforms a space into a concert hall, revealing the character of every recording with extraordinary realism. Sculptural and commanding, it invites the listener to rediscover music in its purest form, each note resonating with the legacy of Paul Voigt's pioneering spirit.
