Preparing your audio experience

The Almira artfully maximises our legendary single driver performance in a meticulously engineered, new cabinet design.
Designed to perform equally well in smaller rooms as in larger spaces, the Almira preserves the clarity and scale of bigger Lowther speaker cabinets but in a much more compact footprint. Utilising the DX3 driver, the Almira is based on a quarter-wave Voigt horn with a floor-facing exit.

Every Almira is handmade to order in our Northampton workshop. Each piece is built with care from start to finish by British craftsmen.

We use high-grade Baltic birch plywood for strength and tonal purity. Every panel is cut, shaped and joined by hand for perfect alignment.

You can choose from a range of real wood and specialist veneers. Each pair is book-matched to create a natural flow of grain that suits your space.

The drive units, including the PM7A Philharmonic, are assembled in our Norfolk atelier. Every part is crafted to the same standard as the world's finest instruments.

Each cone is hand-treated, air-dried and cured in natural sunlight. This gives every Lowther its unmistakably natural tone.

From wood to wire, every element is made to last for generations. A Lowther is not a product but an instrument that grows more beautiful with time.

Every cut, every joint, every finish is completed by hand. Our craftsmen bring decades of experience to each speaker, ensuring uncompromising quality.

Elegant in form and focused in performance, Almira brings the unmistakable Lowther clarity to modern interiors. Its refined cabinet proportions and graceful presence make it as visually calm as it is sonically engaging. Every note arrives with precision, warmth, and texture, turning listening into an experience that feels alive and beautifully complete.

The Almira utilises a Voigt flared pipe and 270-degree bottom port that act as a hybrid quarter wave horn and transmission line for a natural, clean bass extension. Carefully arranged interior panels, laminated curves and composite ply/foam divisions create a smooth 2.3m horn expansion optimal for the DX3 driver.

To complement the legendary full-range performance of the DX3, the Almira incorporates a super-tweeter for added high-frequency detail. This 20mm dome with a small loading cavity matches the efficiency of the Lowther driver. Handmade horns are built into sealed chambers within the cabinet, extending response beyond the DX3's natural roll-off.

The Almira's slender profile and refined proportions make it ideal for modern homes where space is at a premium. Despite its compact footprint, it delivers the full-scale Lowther experience, proving that exceptional sound need not dominate your living space.
Real experiences from Almira owners around the world
"The Almira has the ability to connect the music to the listener on an emotional level as well. The pathos of the piano sonatas, the anguish in Belinda's dying aria, the heartache in so many of Adele's songs, the list goes on, they're gin-clear."
"This is no pipe and slippers box like some Lowther's from the 50's. This looks truly 21st century and sounds just as present-day when placed carefully in any medium-sized living room."
"The sound is very open and transparent - extremely fast and sharp... Playing Bob Downes Open Music... I was impressed by the sheer effervescence of the sound and its' amazing attack."
"The Almiras remind me why I fell in love with music in the first place."
"Even at low levels they fill the space with warmth and balance."
"They make late-night listening feel intimate and alive."
"I can hear the texture of the instruments as if they were right in front of me."
"There's a calm confidence to the sound that makes you forget about the speakers."
